Taroop Faridkot

Hi, I'm Taroop. I help people across British Columbia work out what to do with a pension they've just been handed a decision about.
I didn't start here. I went to school for engineering and spent over ten years in the industry. Good career, but I was tired of answering to somebody else and having to ask permission to take time with my family. So I started in the financial business part time, built it up, and went full time. That was more than ten years ago.
And I had a pension sitting at that old employer. So when a package arrived with my options on it, I was in exactly the spot you're in now. Reading something I half understood, with a date on it, about one of the biggest sums of money I'd ever have in my name.
That's the part most people don't say out loud. It isn't that the decision is hard to make. It's that nobody explains it to you. HR hands you the paperwork and moves on. You ask someone at work who retired last year, and their situation is nothing like yours.
So you end up guessing. Leave it or move it? How much income does it actually turn into? What happens to it if you pass away? Does your spouse get it? What are the tax consequences? Are you giving up guarantees you'd want to keep?
What I'm good at is taking complicated financial things and making them make sense. Not dumbing them down, just explaining them like a normal person, so you can make a real decision instead of nodding along.
On our call, you bring your statement or the package they sent you, and we go through it page by page. I'll show you what you have, what each choice actually means for your retirement, and what the deadline really is.
And if the right answer is to leave your pension exactly where it is, that's what I'll tell you. I'd rather you made a good decision than a fast one.
No pressure, no jargon, no obligation.
